Summer's Beginning

First, I want to start off saying that I am so glad my sister, Sarah, has made it safely to Guatemala. I was very worried. I knew it'd be okay, but it was her first time flying by her self and out of the country all in one. At least we got some practice running around airports in the spring for our trip to St. Louis. She is in Guatemala doing some course work for N.C. State. She received grant money to bring an iPad down there to teach the natives how to use the apps in order to keep better medical records. She is staying with a host family, who actually lives right across the street from the clinic she will be working in. I am so proud of her, and I hope she knows this. She is doing something I could never do, and I know she will do an amazing job. Every year through high school and now college I have been amazed by her accomplishments and I am so glad that I can call her my little sister. And I'm glad I have a little sister that I can look up to.

Also, Hannah had her awards ceremony on Friday. It was such an odd feeling, knowing that she will be going into Middle School next year. But I am confident she will do well because she is such a bright young child. I love her more then everything. Below are her awards:
I'll start on the top left and go down and then do the right side and go down so you know what each one is: All A's in 5th Grade; All A's in 3rd-5th Grades; American Citizenship Award;Reading Counts; President's Outstanding Academic Excellence; and All A's in 3rd-5th Grades trophy. We are so proud of our little Hannah! (Who will soon be taller then me)

And I'm sure most of you know, my older sister Nichole now has a new job at a new local elementary school. She will be the first art teacher at the school, which is still under construction. So she can make the space all hers! I am hoping to help pack up her room at Ridge View this weekend, fun right?

Now onto me. I'm sure many of you are wondering what I am doing for a job. I have accepted a temporary position at William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute, where I did my internship. I will be continuing to work with their Activity Therapy Department. I am not sure how long this position will last, but I feel like it will allow me to get my feet wet in activity therapy. It will definitely be an experience, but I have many mentors there so I will have a lot to learn. I begin my training on Thursday, June 2. So, it will be interesting getting back into a schedule again. I'm ready to do it, after many weeks of not having too much going on. I can't believe I will have a "big girl" job as I call it.
